I must have promised a review of this Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Provocateur for at least a few months now but I have never got around to it because I wasn't quite sure how I feel about it. Since I actually brought this with me in my very tiny collection here to China, I have been using it occasionally.

Packaging: A very standard chubby stick looking, similar to the Revlon Balm Stain's collection but the Lacquer Balm version has a shiny metallic finish. It twist-up so no need to sharpen but the ability to to get precise finish on your lips will decrease the more you use it. However, when that problem arises, just use a lip brush.

Consistency: Sheer and lightweight but it is more opaque than it feels. Easy to build up colour intensity whilst maintaining the same lightweight and glossy finish. It feels very balmy, so people with dry lips don't have to worry about using this on a daily basis because it's not high maintenance. Think of the Lacquer Balm as the harder version of the Revlon Lip Butter with more gloss.

Longevity: Due to its balmy consistency, I don't really expect it to be a long wearing lip product. It usually wears off after about 3 hours. Although, it is quite an easy product to carry around and reapply when you are out and about. I don't find that the Lacquer Balm version leaves a stain like Balm Stain version. So once you remove it, it's gone.

Colour: For me, I think Provocateur seems to have a very watermelon red about it with one layer but it can become bright cherry red with 2-3 layer. I find it really useful because I can use it on a daily basis to add a pop of colour to my face and when I want a bit more "ooomph", I can just pile on a few layers.

My take: To be quite honest, I don't reach for this as much as I should, sometimes, I even forgot that I have it. Even though, it's my one and only red lip product here. I think that I'm just not used to seeing myself with red lips. Normally, I use this like a stain, I apply most of the product at the middle of my lips and then feather the colour out with my finger.

What is your favourite lip product at the moment?
