Hey there!

Don't get me wrong I love Lush, if you read my blog, you probably already know that. However, this is the first skincare product that I picked up from there. So, I'm not going to lie but I did have a high hope for this product because I heard so many people raving about it. Especially around Christmas seeing as Let The Good Times Roll is originally part of Lush Christmas range but people like it so much, now it was put as part of the permanent collection and then recently discontinued. You see why kind of expected great things. For a while, I wasn't going to post a review of this but being a beauty blogger that I am, I need to share my experiences; good and bad.

Lush Let The Good Times Roll

Let The Good Times Roll Facial Cleanser looks very promising from the ingredients such as corn oil, polenta, maize flour and cinnamon (not that I know what any of these things do but they sounds good). Okay, first off, Lush describes this as a "gentle face wash", to me, I think that it's more of a face scrub...not a particularly gentle one at that. Apart from that, I thought it was quite nice since it smells just like popcorn.

As for the texture, it's paste-like with some actual popcorn mixed in there. To use it, I just mixed a tiny bit of the paste with some water and then massage it onto my face before washing it off with some warm water. Personally, I feel that this cleanser is very very very greasy! At first, I kinda expected it to be good for my dry skin but hell no! It broke me out like crazy. I'm not sure if it's me allergic to some of the ingredients but I continued to use this product until it's gone (I forced my housemates to use it too and it seems to work fine for them). However, because I thought that the cause of my breakout was because of how greasy this cleanser left my face. So, I added toner into my skincare routine and it seems to work well.

This is how my face look after using the cleanser without toner. Notice the little red bumps on my cheeks, ergh, just awful. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this because it's supposed to be a cleanser but it really doesn't clean anything, if anything my face felt a little bit more dirty afterwards. Definitely not worth the hype. I feel bad saying this but I actually hate this cleanser. Of course it's usable, my friends actually like it but personally for me, I feel like it's a bit of a waste of money because it doesn't do anything it claims to do. My face did not look HD ready :( I obviously will not be repurchasing this.

You can not longer get this product on Lush but I have a feeling that it might return during Christmas period or as a Retro product.

Have you tried any Lush cleansers before?

  1. Ah, so sorry this didn't work for you! I'm a huge Lush fan (love the brand and have been using their products for over 10 years) but have had a lot of bad experiences with their facial skin care. My skin is acne-prone and sensitive and many of their products have broken me out. So I mostly stick to the lovely body and hair products! But one of the few skin care products that worked for me was their Aqua Marina cleanser. My sensitive skin loved it! Hope you can find a cleanser that works better for you :)

    1. It's such a shame because I love Lush as a brand too. I don't think I will be trying another one of their skincare products for a while because they are rather pricey. Thank you.

  2. Oh no, I hate trying a beauty product only to find that it breaks me out terribly! I'm scared to try LUSH skincare because I just don't think it'd be very suitable for my sensitive skin. I highly recommend Clarins if you're looking for something "back-to-basics" to calm down your skin! The brand has really worked well for me every time my skin reacts badly to something. Hope it calms down soon :)

  3. I was thinking about trying this but might give it a miss now! Don't need to be dealing with additional break outs.

  6. Eeeeek this sounds like such a disappointment! You rarely see negative reviews of any LUSH products but I now know to stay well away from this, should it be re-released in the future xx

    1. Lush is amazing as a brand but some stuff can be a bit of hit and miss. I still love most of their stuff though.

    1. Thank you, my skin is actually very dry, that cleanser just made my skin look very oily for some reason.
I think it might be too natural indeed because I never experienced anything like that with any other products before.
